Company History

Melco Marketing has been serving the Real Estate industry since 1977 when the first personalized calendar pads rolled off the assembly line of Payne Publishers in Manassas, Virginia. For years, the sales of the Vinyl Calendar Pad remained local as Payne Publishers serviced the Washington Metropolitan area. As the number of agents increased, so did the business. Agents began moving from one Real Estate Company to another, and before we knew it, this popular calendar pad was being used up and down the East Coast.

As the orders increased, it became time to hire a sales manager and create a national sales campaign. We were fortunate in finding the perfect person for this job in Mr. Stan Crockett. A Manassas resident, Stan was active in the Real Estate industry, selling homes for a builder in Northern Virginia. The momentum continued and in 1987, Melco Marketing broke away from Payne Publishers and incorporated as a separate entity.

The vinyl calendar pad was now a hit with Realtors throughout the country. This personalized calendar was the perfect way to keep the agents' names in front of prospective clients for only pennies a day! Thanks to the many ideas received from Realtors over the years, the pad has become more focused on the Real Estate Industry while remaining a useful family planner.

Probably the single most important change that took place with the vinyl calendar pad was the addition of the magnets to the back. Now we had a farming tool or gift that could easily be placed on a refrigerator, statistically the busiest place in the home. Later, a "Season's Greetings" page was added so the agent could use the calendar as a small gift for the new year. Again, the perfect way to keep their name and number visible. We have since added "Real Estate Messages" and mortgage rates to each monthly page.

Melco Marketing has enjoyed a double digit growth rate for over 15 years. As an "Approved Supplier" for many of the national companies, Melco is an active participant in Real Estate shows throughout the country. These companies include such names as RE/MAX, Prudential, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, ERA, GMAC-Better Homes and Gardens, Weichert, Keller Williams, Arvida and Realty Executives. Each fall, Melco also participates in the NAR show (National Association of Realtors) working with well over 100 independent companies.
